Re: BibQuery(ZotQuery) for Bookends
Thanks for posting this update Dellu! I'm also probably going to switch from using Bookend bibliography formatting to using pandoc-citeproc, though I think BE's Format manager is still nicer and more flexible than hacking CSL. BUT I don't think your new workflow exactly fulfills your original query ...

Re: Web links in bibliography?
What is your preferred output format (pure HTML, use a CMS)? I use LibreOffice (I wanted clickable links in the exported PDF), and there is no way of using Bookends to make the links "live", so I made a macro that takes <http://dx.doi.com/stuff> in an bookends formatted ODF and converts th...

Re: Improving Bookends Integration with Other software
OK, I think this should work:
Code: Select all
on run
tell application "System Events"
keystroke "c" using command down
delay 0.5
do shell script "id=$(pbpaste); open \"bookends://sonnysoftware.com/$id\""
end tell
end run

Re: Improving Bookends Integration with Other software
Well, you can't use the unique ID number and the Live search which is what these Applescripts use. But as you say you can use the URL scheme in which case it is very easy to modify the Applescripts to use the unique ID. You can copy from the clipboard and open using: This works: id=''; pbpaste | rea...

Re: Restrict the number of characters (words) during Attachment Renaming
Jon, this will be a great little refinement thanks! And it is so easy to multiple select and rename all attachments automagically with this updated format, super efficient. This is maybe slightly offtopic, but is there a way to specify FIRST LAST author formatting for a PDF using the Format manager?

Re: Improving Bookends Integration with Other software
I think you may need to enable Applescript utility in System Preferences first:
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Improving Bookends Integration with Other software
I attach a few scripts (Jon the developer of Bookends wrote one and I modified it to create the others) to ease interaction between your word processor, browser, or any other app and Bookends. Live Search Formatted/Unformatted Ref The first takes a text selection in your word processor, that is a fo...

Re: [Feature Request] Focus the search field for "Link to" integration with word processors
Scrivener can't easily customise this behaviour either, but another BE user cassady suggested to use keyboard maestro, I link it below as other BE users may find this useful. I use Quicksilver so I should be able to use its triggers to customise the behaviour, as keyboard maestro does. Another user ...

Re: Bookends sync
Dropbox sync of database and refs is amazingly stable and robust for me (<10000 refs though), and even if I ever got a sync conflict (I have with other programs, not BE), then using Dropbox versions and it is trivial to revert. Personally I won't need the new Sync mechanism, though I think lots of u...

Re: [Feature Request] Focus the search field for "Link to" integration with word processors
Ah found it, live search focus is ⌘⌥F so it makes this somewhat easier, still it is ⌘Y and then ⌘⌥F so one extra unnecessary keybinding.

[Feature Request] Focus the search field for "Link to" integration with word processors
Hi, I use Scrivener and there is "Link to" integration with Bookends using ⌘Y which is very efficient. However when I switch from Scrivener to BE, IMO it would make sense that the search field in the toolbar was focussed. That would mean I could press ⌘Y in Scrivener then immediately type ...

Re: [Feature request] Search Selected Text in Pubmed?
Thanks Jon, defaulting to Pubmed would certainly help. One other problem with Bookends browser is its speed. I assume it doesn't use a cache because it it much slower at loading pages than my browser. Sometimes it seems to be waiting for resources and until everything is in, including all the advert...

[Feature request] Search Selected Text in Pubmed?
I use the bookmarklet to import from my web browser to Bookends browser extensively. Sadly quite a few sites fail to import from the bookends browser (they fail to support COiNs or use all sorts of non-standard metadata etc.). Also even if COiNs is supported, the import often fails to have an abstra...
