Re: Script to update (rather than overwriting) bib file
First of all: thank you so very much for your script dear Zach. This is going to be a very useful script. I have been playing with it. I couldn't get it finish the process because I have a large library (about 12,000 references). The current script took over 46 minutes to process my references;(and ...

Re: Topic
It would be great, if there were separate Feature Requests sub forums or something. I guess it could be a great feature indeed for Bookends. I've a couple of ideas too, but I'm just a newbie and I'm not sure if these are valid options which actually can be applied in Bookends. For the library speci...

Re: Creating BibTex bibliography
You'd ideally need to keep a separate "database" of the UUIDs for the BIB, then query BE and find the unique UUIDs to then add. So this is tractable and doable, for someone with some time on their hands... :( Exactly. That is what I have been thinking. It is even possible to query into a ...

Re: Creating BibTex bibliography
I was thinking to use betobibtex as a means to sync my BE library with my Bib library managed by Jabref/Bibdesk. The idea was to have a system similar to the Better BibTex plugin in Zotero: https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-better-bibtex, https://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/push-and-pull/ Wh...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
I am getting this when I use the "selection" script. Selecting one item doesn't trigger the error. Selecting two or more items in the library and running the script triggers the error. Yes, I am running it in the Script editor. and, they have attachments http://take.ms/5bN4H On the positiv...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
As for your first question, I use a script in Bookends (activated through Keyboard Maestro) to automatically open the link in the user20 field. The script is: are you reading the files in Devonthink? I am wondering why you want to jump from BE to Devonthink. This is a very useful article. I love fa...

Re: Autolinking Bookends and DEVONthink records
This is amazing. Thank you for putting it out. I am going to use it. Two comments/questions: USER20: is not a clickable field in BE. Is there any way to make it clickable so that we can directly jump to Devonthink using the link? How will these links react in the ios? Does clicking the link in Devon...

The brilliance of Podcast addict
I was impressed how the developer of podcast addict designed the application to use the same "setting" for the app as a whole (universal setting) as well as for each of the libraries. 1) We have universal setting that applies across all the libraries 2) any part of the universal library ca...

Re: Script to find orphaned files
You could tag the files or simply move them directly using Finder's AppleScript dictionary. It would be relatively simple if you only have one directory of attachments with no subfolders. What the posted script does is separate the file name from the file's path to compare it against a list of all ...

Re: How to organize references
I also migrated from Sente. You can almost emulate the QuickTags using the tag groups in Bookends. Personally, I am using a combination of finder tags and Keywords organize my references; and manage projects. The Smart Searches serve as a glue between the two. I set up a couple of smart searches tha...

Is it possible to move (tag, and then use Hazel to move) these files to a specific folder instead of listing their name?
