Hi frvs, I reiterate -- I do not see much utility in Spotlight searches of Bookends data (we *do* support a much more creative (IMO) use of Spotlight in Bookends, which it search attached pdfs and locate the references that use them in Bookends). That I think is useful. Spotlight searches are slow a...

Re: feature requests
- would it be possible to allow BE to import refs with the ".ris" extension. I use several databases that export as such and changing extensions takes time You can right now with drag and drop. In the next update, you'll be able to via the Import References menu, too. really quite minor: ...

Hi Gerben, The Verify function is very good, but not perfect. If anyone finds cases like this, where Verify is OK but there is some bad behavior that is fixed by a rebuild or repair, please zip and send me the database. We can then improve the Verify function. As for size, if you are moving data aro...

Hm, that doesn't sound like any Mac convention I've ever heard of. May I suggest you consider other approaches to track references for specific projects? Static groups would seem ideal -- adding multiple references to a static group is as easy as drag and drop. Color coding might work as well, but t...

#2 wouldn't work. You can't ensure a reference is part of a smart group -- it has to have data that meet the criteria for the smart group. #1 would work, but may easily lead to mistakes. Since there are so many easy ways to add references to static groups, I think this is best left as a conscious de...

OK, to be clear then: when the reference window is closed, Bookends should highlight that entry (changing whatever might have been selected) in the List View, assuming it is showing in the list. If it's not showing in the list, the selection isn't changed. Whether the reference was just created or n...

Hi Joe, A -39 error is -39 eofErr End of file; no additional data in the format It indicates a badly damaged db. My guess is that your database is fine (I assume it verifies). It is likely, therefore, to be the format you are using that is damaged. Try another and see if the problem goes away. If it...
