Re: Feature request: auto sync
Sorry, I wasn't clear. Yes I am talking about the sync option in Bookends. What I mean by manual sync is that Bookends does not sync automatically when you add something but only on start up, close down or when you "manually" tell it to sync. The result has been that I sometimes lose recor...

Feature request: auto sync
Having used the sync option now for quite a while I must admit I am very unhappy about it because it does not cater for the way I work. Presently I use Bookends on both a laptop and an iMac with both of them syncing to a third library (in my case on the NAS). So far, I have lost numerous new referen...

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
It is good to hear you are thinking about putting the separate edit window back. Look at it this way, what is the point of a using windows for different programs if you have to make some of them so big that they cover a large part of the screen to be useful. The separate edit window took up place bu...

Re: Getting rid of the standalone reference window
Does that mean we are now stuck with the tiny window on the right with all the scrolling that comes with it to do our editing. In what sense is that an improvement?

Re: Getting rid of the standalone reference window
Jon, I was referring to your earlier mail "You're not looking at the reference edit pane, you're looking at the Concise View. The ref edit pane in the main window is identical to what you see in the standalone window. Go to Preferences and tell Bookends to edit references in the main window. No...

Re: Getting rid of the standalone reference window
Where in Prefs can we change the editing window so it resembles the stand-alone one (which is sorely missed)? I don't see anything in Refs that relates to editing windows?

Re: how to share Bookends library, ay guidelines or suggesti
Hi Rob, I use the sync option to keep my 2 libraries on different computers in sync. They both sync with a library on the server that is never actually loaded in Bookends. I have set the options of both to "Master/client is chosen automatically using last sync dates". The only thing to be ...

Re: Searching inside PDFs - single use, not Library-wide?
We may be asking too much of Bookends in this respect. The more pdfs one collects the more important decent access to them becomes. Although I am on a Mac and thus have Spotlight this is really not good enough. Not only does it not give me direct access to all the hits, it also cannot handle proximi...

Duplicate ref WITHOUT attachment
At the suggestion of Jon I am checking if there is any interest in an extra menu item to the Refs menu namely "Duplicate ref only". This would duplicate the highlighted reference just like the present Duplicate CMD-D command but without the attachment. I would find this very useful when du...

Sync question using home server
I use a laptop both at work and home as well as an iMac at home and have Bookends installed on both. I also have a server with the libraries on the laptop, the iMac and the server. What I am wondering is how to set up the laptop and the iMac. My working habits are such that I never know on which of ...

Smart groups
I am somewhat baffled by the smart groups feature. I try to set up a smart group but get 0 hits. This is what I do: 1. Click on green Add 2. Chose Smart group 3. Give it a name under "Name" and enter a search term as "Text" "words beginning with" "All fields" ...
