Ummm...I deleted the preferences file completely. I thought that's what I had to do. Sorry about that.
But the other problem is still there. Just tried.

Yes, as I mentioned above. But there is something here with Bookends itself, because, like I mentioned above, everytime I try to export like that (and it doesn't work), after closing that screen, my bookends database View Formatted pane is not utf-8; I have to go back into Biblio > Bibliography Form...

Same thing happened. Also, in the word processor (choose) (Set to none) place, before selecting TeXShop (after following your instructions of trashing the preferences), I also had a bunch of chinese characters (i think). Those aren't coming back when i close the preferences pane and reopen (i still ...

Just wondering: is there a reason why in the [Bibliography Formatter], we can choose utf-8 for export, but in [Scan A Document > Generate a Biblgioraphy], utf-8 is not an option? The reason I'm asking, is that I'm noticing another negative (though minor) side affect of my troubles mentioned above; n...

Bug in Bibliography Sort > Ignore Words ?
In the ignore words > author, I'm typing al, Al (with a line inbetween them). If I close the preferences pane, and then open it again, and go to the "scan and bib" pane again, I get: 愀氀ഀ䄀氀. Just like that.
Any idea what's going on?

Scanning a LaTeX file and utf-8 unicode problems
First of all, thanks for the Universal update, Jon! I'm trying to use Bookends with LaTeX (I'm using TeXShop, and all my files are encoded in utf-8, because i'm using XeLaTeX). I have two questions here, one in usage theory, and one to solve a practical problem I'm having: 1. usage theory: when shou...

I'm using FF and Zotero together as a front end to BE. Basically, I keep adding bibliographic info into Zotero (from JSTOR) until I'm done with my JSTOR session. I then have Zotero export all of my entries, which could be dozens, and i then import from that file into BE. I find it faster than using ...

Pubmed...and others?
The new Pubmed pdf search sounds wonderful. I'm wondering if there's anyhope that this might be extended to others, through plugins or someother structure, such as JSTOR. Or is this a one-off feature? Those of us in the humanities (and there are a few of us who went the way of BE because of our spec...

The main differences between library management and reference management: 1. References may or may not be in your personal library. Your reference program may include books/etc. that you own, and others that you do not. However, you will need ot have all of them in one database when scanning your do...

Books! (an open source, personal library management program)
Just as a follow-up, for anyone interested: After reading this post, I realized that it was best to stop using up precious user-defined fields in Bookends to use for "Borrower", "Borrowed Date", "Location of Book", etc ... i.e. for library management purposes. I have a ...
