Niklas wants Bookends to use "hits list" as the default when you open a global change dialog. Now it's "database" (i.e. the change will affect all records -- you can change this to hits list, if there are references there, before making the change, of course.

Hi, WOS is owned by ISI, which makes EN (and RM and ProCite). To my knowedge, they haven't opened it up to anybody else, for competitive reasons I imagine (it's not a Z39-50-based server). Bookends has a filter for importing from WOS files (via your browser), but no direct search. Jon Sonny Software

Bookends can connect to sites that require a username and password -- you have to enter them in the filter. If you are importing BibTeX from a file, you need to change the "reference begins with" from * to whatever tag is useful (001 would work in the example you provide). The * is a metac...

Then it should work as expected. I just tried your format order and it works here. Why not try another format and see if it's somehow related to the particular one you are using. If you still can't figure it out, contact tech support directly.

BTW, in another post you mention that your pdfs are on a server. Bookends (that is, Spotlight) only searches the local hard drive. This is set to change in Leopard.

I'll think about it. But realize that you can do Spotlight searches on pdfs in the default attachments folder, so you would lose this ability. Why not simply place the pdfs (in their subfolders) in the Bookends default attachments folder? Then Bookends wouldn't make a copy of them (because they are ...

I'm not completely sure what that error message means, but if it means you have an empty key field you can easily filx this in Bookends. Do a Find for all references in which User1 (or Key) is empty. If you find any, and they are among the references you exported, you can add a key. Jon Sonny Software

They will work exactly as they do now for Internet Search. If you can do a search from behind a proxy in Bookends, you'll be able to download pdfs.
