Tip for importing metadata from Google Scholar

Post by Jon »

To get the highest quality data from Google Scholar, you must tell it to include citation information when it shows references. To do this,

1. In Bookends Browser or Safari (not another browser), go to

https://scholar.google.com

2. Click on the Settings button at the top of the page.

3. Under Bibliography manager, tick "Show links to import citations into...". It doesn't matter what the output is intended for, select any option from the popup menu (e.g. Refman).

That's it. Now Bookends will import the best metadata that Google Scholar can provide.
