Correct format in Turabian?

Post by sgreen »

With the help of Ref windows and List View Window, I have discoved in formatted view that Turabian Author-Date does not show editions, while Turabian does. See exampels below:

Gesenius, Wilhelm. 1910. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. Edited by E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press.

Gesenius, Wilhelm. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. 2nd ed. ed. E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press, 1910.

Here is my question. Should not editions be included in both formats, like in the second example. However, the second example above still seems not to be totally correct -- while the editors name is correct in Turabian Author-Date, it is incorrect in Turabian. Should not the Bibliographic format instead look like this in both cases?:

Gesenius, Wilhelm. 1910. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. 2nd ed. Edited by E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press.

Gesenius, Wilhelm. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. 2nd ed. Edited by E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press, 1910.

or perhaps like this:

Gesenius, Wilhelm. 1910. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. 2nd ed, edited by E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press.

Gesenius, Wilhelm. Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar. Translated by A. E. Cowley. 2nd ed, edited by E. Kautzsch. New York, USA: Oxford University Press, 1910.

I am not totally sure what is correct here, but clearly the format in Bookends for Turabian and Turabian Author-Date should be edited in some way. So my question to those who knows more than me, what is the correkt format above, so that it can be edited. Is there a consensus, because I don't find a clear example of this in the Turabian manual 7th edition.
