Mellel Formatted citations

Post by jwilhelm »

Hello,
i am experiencing a strange problem after the recent updates of Mellel and Bookends (Jan 09).
The formatted citations - for which i use years - are after another document scan showing up only "???", i.e. three question marks.
I tried to figure out what might be the source of the problem by trying out several preferences settings in both apps, but, the final formatted citation stayed "???". (New app version.png)
After putting back the two applications to the older versions via TimeMachine the problem was solved (Older version.png).
Strange.
Attached you find the two differences as screenshots.

Hi again,
i found out that this was discussed in the Redler's forum recently.

There seems to be a "silent update" of Bookends that solved the problem (in my case).
Just download it again from Bookends' site and reinstall.

Right, this is an inadvertent side effect of a change made in Mellel 2.6. This will be rolled back in a bug-fix release, according to RedleX. But as Johannes noted, I put in a workaround in a 10.4.3 silent update, if you need it right now (or revert to Mellel 2.5 until 2.6.1 is out).

I am having a similar problem to the previous post. I updated to the latest bookends, but when I insert a new citation (which Mellel recognizes as such and displays it in its biography list) it turns out formatted as a different citation!

An update--
I downloaded the latest version of Bookends first. That is when this behavior showed up.
I then checked to see if there was a Mellel upgrade (there was), but downloading it did not change the behavior.

It is like a big frameshift error--any new citation I upload gets formatted as something different.

Your help is appreciated on this one.

And I have rebuilt the bibliography.
And there is no obvious connection between the ref # of the citation I intended, and the one that shows up.
