Umlauts damaged in online references imported from Amazon

Post by suavito »

Dear Jon,

I searched amazon.de for a book, imported it but all umlauts were damaged.

This did not happen with Bookends 10 and amazon.de. Did you change anything or did they?

Nothing changed on our end. I just tried it on Amazon.de and didn't see a problem. Please follow this up directly to tech support.

Hm, I think it worked for me because I was using a build that was slightly different from the one originally uploaded. Please download Bookends 11.0.1 again and see if Amazon.de works for you now.

The latest build fixed it. Thanks again for immensely fast help!

But while we're at it another thing regarding amazon.de:

Amazon always had the city as part of the publisher field so for every title dragged out of amazon.de manual rework was necessary.

But now in Bookends 11 or at least its latest build the city is no longer in the publisher field. That's good, but it is not yet in the city field.

Again: Was it you or is it Amazon?

I didn't change anything with Amazon. Amazon.com doesn't provide the city I believe, and the filter is actually designed for that. I didn't realize that different information was given by different Amazon sources.
