Hi,
I have noticed lately that every time I try to do a search in the 'quick search' field (opt-cmd F), the cursor jumps out of the field after I have started typing my query. When I then click in the field to continue my search, every time I write a single letter, the cursor will once again move focus from the field.
Any idea what is going on?
Cursor 'jumps out' of quick search
Re: Cursor 'jumps out' of quick search
Kind of. For some people, the WebKit display is grabbing the focus and Bookends can't set it back to the search field. I cannot reproduce this myself, so I don't know why it's happening to others. The solution is to turn OFF "Use WebKit to display pdfs". But I'd like you to send me a screen snap of your list view window when this is happening so I can see exactly what your setup is (support@sonnysoftware.com).

I have noticed the same confusing behavior (beginning with the last update). I’ll send you a screenshot next time I pop up Bookends

Re: Cursor 'jumps out' of quick search
After discussing this with several affected users, I've been able to reproduce it by making the first column in the list view the reference # (rather than the default Authors). For those of you affected by this, is that the case for you, too?

No, for me it happens under other circumstances:
when I am in one of the smart groups (see screenshot). It does not happen when I am in the “All” section.

OK, I see this problem now with Snow Leopard (it was rare with Leopard). I think it's fixed, and I'll be testing that for a bit. Expect to see the problem resolved in 11.0.2. For this affected in the meantime, turn off "Use WebKit to display pdf" (my personal preference in any case).

P.S. This is not a new issue -- it occurs in Bookends 10.x and Snow Leopard, too. It just wasn't picked up until now.
