Fantastic, Jon, thank you!

Where do you prefer to receive issue reports? Forum or email?

EDIT: Realized you have answered this already, thanks.

Beta 2 is now available. Many bug fixes, some cosmetic changes, and a few new small features (see the Read Me in the Help menu). One is: change a column's field in the reference list with a right-click and a hierarchical menu (no need to go to Preferences).

:-) We'll be delighted to.

Beta 3 is coming later this week (all known bugs fixed, cosmetic issues fixed, better UI for handling drag and drop of multiple pdfs). ETA for the actual release is in about a month.

How is this invoked?

With the button bearing the Safari icon in the lower control strip. Previously this just took you to the URL of the selected reference. Now it has all the functions of Bookends browser (bookmarks so you can easily navigate elsewhere, click on the paper clip attach icon to attach any pdf or webpage your are looking at, and use reference data detection to import reference from many sites using the green button icon).

Beta 4 is now available. Lots of fixes, including restoring "Get PDF" from the Internet, which was broken for many publishers.

I'm sure this is a tricky question, but have you all settled on a price for 12? Will there be a "full" price and an "upgrade" price? If you're waiting until the actual launch to reveal this, that's cool, but any info you can give would be appreciated. :)

Yes, there will be a regular price and an upgrade price. Historically we've charged $29 for single user license upgrades. The upgrade price for Bookends 12 will not be higher than this.

Another awkward question, I'm guessing that if we bought via the Mac App Store it won't be possible to upgrade? Would it be possible to upgrade and cross-grade in one go (i.e. to purchase an upgrade and in so doing, move from v11 purchased via Mac App Store to v12 purchased directly from you - off the App Store version?)

I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen for users who bought from the MAS, because that's going to depend on Apple more than us. I assure you we'll do what's right for our MAS-purchasers, and no matter what they won't have to buy Bookends again at full price just to upgrade to 12.

That's great news Jon, thank you, and really encouraging! My question was motivated from experience with other applications, so the fact that you are being considerate in this area puts you ahead of other developers!

BTW, Bookends 12 will come out first from us. It will be submitted to the Mac App Store once it's clear that there are no major issues that need to be fixed. Hopefully there won't be, and the MAS version will follow the release from us in a few weeks. At least that's the plan.
