I recently have been finding that I am frequently prompted by the app on opening to rebuild the database (due to found "problems")

A defragment and compact did not stop this.

Any advice out there?

Did you do a Rebuild? If you did and that doesn't seem to help, try a Repair instead.

Yes, I always did a rebuild, but a few days later, it would again detect problems.
I will do a repair and see if that fixes it.
