PDF reader

Post by drsoram »

In Bookends I want to try the new PDF reading function built into Bookends latest update
My default PDF reader for my Mac is Skim.

How do I open a PDF in the Bookends built in PDF Reader ? If I click open in default it opens in Skim

2. Are notes and highlights I make in in a pdf read in the Bookends pdf reader searchable within Bookends? With Spotlight?

Thank you

If you want to use the Bookends PDF reader, just open the PDF display pane (the bottom pane) and make sure that "Use Annotation View for PDFs" is checked (in the Action menu at the bottom of the window).

Spotlight does not index PDF notes or highlights. However, in the Bookends you can search the Note field, or virtual notecards (the latter is available in the Live Search box. In an upcoming version of Bookends you'll also have the option of making a Bookends notecard from highlighted text, in which case it would be searchable within Bookends, too.
