Re: Work with whitepaper (2 feature requests)

There seems to be some confusion here. I'll take these one at a time (FYI, much of this is addressed in the user guide, although I agree it may not be obvious where to look).

1. The 765 was added because authorities the pdf would have been given a name already in use. Each attachment name must be unique.

2. Authors do not need to be people, they can be "institutional". In that case you end the name with a comma" F-Secure Labs,

3. For request 1, you mean which fields can be used for Autocomplete Paper? That's already done -- fields that don't apply are disabled. So if you search Google Scholar, Title is disabled (you can't enter text) because GS doesn't let you search just by Title (it does Text searches).

4. For request 2, Bookends doesn't know if you have paid for a service or not (or if your university has subscribed to it). There is no way it can know that, so it offers what it has (first, most people who access this via a university where there is ip authentication, which Bookends wouldn't know about, and second you don't have to store name and pw in a filter, you can enter it ad hoc, and again Bookends wouldn't know that). You can get rid of Web of Science yourself (in the online search popup) by going to File => Import Filter Manager and unchecking it. Basically, you should know what services you have privileges for and don't use those you're not entitled to. Frankly, there are just a few.

5. JSTOR is not a science site. PubMed is. JSTOR advertises itself as a site for scholarship, and includes millions (OK, a lot) of humanities references.

You have to decide what the appropriate author is in the case of that PDF, Bookends can't. You have to know if you have privileges to a commercial service, Bookends can't. You have to identify online sites that provide the information you want, Bookends can't.
