Hello,

I am running Bookends 12.8 on OSX 10.12.4, using a new 2016 MBP 15" with touch bar.

Unfortunately, this combination crashes constantly, even when I am just clicking a record in the database.

Any thoughts or advice? Crash report available on request.

Please Rebuild your library and see if that takes care of it.

Same here for me. I rebuilt my library but it didn't solve the problem.

Could well be a problem with a PDF and PDFKit. If the lower pane is open, close it. If looking at a PDF with it open crashes, then see if the PDF opens in Preview.

In any case, the forum is not the place to handle tech support. If you can't figure out the problem please write to tech support with more information.

Have you guys figured out what the problem was? Does it still persist?

I'm considering upgrading to macOS 10.12.4, but I don't want to do it if that harms Bookends. Has anyone else been having this problem too?

I've had a number of reports, and it's definitely new 10.12.4 PDFKit bugs that are the problem, and Apple is aware of them. Avoid 10.12.4, let's see if 10.12.5 is better.

Thanks Jon. Good to know that.

This problem persists in macOS 10.12.5, although it may not be quite as bad as in 10.12.4. Other apps that use PDFKit, such as EndNote, are experiencing the same problems. Note that if you experience these hangs when certain annotated PDFs are displayed you can prevent it by

1. Unchecking "Use Annotation View for PDFs" in the Action pop-up (gear) menu at the bottom of the library window, and
2. Closing the reference edit pane.

I'm hearing good things about High Sierra with regard to PDFKit. If anyone has installed the High Sierra beta and has run Bookends on it, a report on your experiences is welcome.
