Detach and move to trash

Post by alanterra »

Can I put in a strong request for a "Detach and move to trash" option? This could be done by (a) adding another menu item to what is already a long menu, (b) changing the meaning of "Detach…" when the option key is held down, (c) adding a preference of "Trash/Don't trash when detaching".

I have 9,700 files in my attachments folder (and it is growing). It is nearly impossible to find the detached file and move it into the trash after detaching. If I move it into the trash before detaching I risk confusing Bookends. The only solution I see, as Bookends is currently configured, is to
1) Find the attachment in the Finder
2) Detach in Bookends
3) Return to the Finder window and move the file to the trash

This is unnecessarily baroque (even, rococo).

Perhaps there is another solution that I don't know about?

Thanks!

In the PDF action popup, under Detach is the option "Move To Trash", which does an implicit detach first. Is that not what you want?
