Keywords

Post by pgseye »

Hi,

I've tried doing a forum search and reading the manual, but I'm still not sure I understand keywords. I like the idea of tag clouds to find common themes among research papers. I see clouds can be formed with words from titles, abstracts, etc, but none of the pdf's I'm importing from Papers 3 and autocompleting seem to show any keywords. Is this normal - should auto-completing a reference from Pubmed import the paper's keywords as well (assuming the authors have specified any)?

Thanks,
Paul

PubMed's "keywords" are called MESH headings, and are of limited value when dealing with databases of thousands (rather than millions) of references. However, if you want them imported, edit the PubMed filter. Here are the Notes in that filter:

"To import PubMed keywords, enter MH in front of Keywords.

To import the full journal name, put JT instead of TA before Journal.

To import first names instead of initials, use FAU instead of AU before Authors (and FED in front of Ser Editors)."
