Not sure where it came from, but I have a "~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Attachments Export" folder that is now a couple of weeks old.

• Where did it come from?
• Can I safely remove it?

I assume you exported references with their PDFs (if any) at some point. If you don't want anything inside that folder (or the folder is empty) you can delete it.
