Where are Reference Types stored - if at all?

Hello all,

I have come across what I think is something odd – but to be honest, it has been so long since I have checked specifically, I might be misremembering how things were.

I am reasonably certain that many moons ago, I created/edited one of the 'Unused' reference types, and named it "Report".
I am also fairly certain I set up one of the options in my Custom Format, to pull in from that 'Report' type.
Be that as it may, it's no longer there – with only the Unused; Unused2; Unused3 etc. being visible.

Would the settings for that reference type have been saved somewhere separately?
Assuming I am correct - and it has indeed gone 'AWOL', and would like to dig through some backups to see if I can find it again...
