New User question

Post by lfriedla »

Hello,
I am trying to convert from Zotero to Bookends. A strong feature of Zotero is ability to download any citation from the Safari browser. I realize (I think) that Bookends doesn't do this, but I need to use the Bookends growers.

First, I have my EZ proxy configured for UW Madison. But when I do a search and am prompted for my UW login, it is rejected:

Here are my settings which I believe are correct since UW does show up in the Bookends browser:

But I cannot, as far as I can tell, directly go to journal search in the UW library via Bookends browser. This is the heart of most of my search, along with google.scholar for general exploration.
Is this a configuration problem?

Or a lack of understanding of how to use the BE browser via EZproxy? I have looked at manual (pp. 136 and particular 166 EzProxy) and video tutorials.
thanks.

You can use Bookends Browser to download citations IF a DOI is found on the web site. If one is, click the downward arrow in browser toolbar.

As for EZProxy, maybe try unchecking your Proxy server authentication in preferences. See if it works now. If not, please contact tech support directly (support@sonnysoftware.com).
