Has Quick Add via JSTOR stopped working?

I have tried to add two references this way, and both have come in blank. I suspect something changed at JSTOR.

My last attempt was this link: https://www.jstor.org/stable/41226135

I was able to add that URL via quick add. Make sure any firewall settings weren't changed.

Hmm. I have no idea what is broken at my end. If I figure it out, I'll report it here in case it helps others. Thx.

Perhaps related – I'm getting blank references today when I attach JStor pdfs (by downloading in Safari, then dragging them into Bookends) e.g. this one: https://www.jstor.org/stable/2156021
And the same with the one in the previous post in this thread, which I just tested.

I haven't changed anything as far as I know. No updates of anything recently; no changes in System Preferences or Bookends Preferences.

You'll have to send me an example, the PDF costs $36 to download.

Sorry! I've just sent both the pdfs mentioned in this thread.

But anyway, it doesn't seem to be anything specific about those papers. I've just tried a different random paper from JStor with the same -null- result. I can send you that one too, of course, if it would help.

Two more things:
1) The references aren't totally blank: after attaching the pdf they have just the JSTOR URL in the URL field. All other fields are empty.
2) I've just now Verified, Reindexed and Repaired the database, and tried again to attach a JSTOR pdf, with the same result: a reference blank except for the JSTOR URL.

Thanks for the PDFs. They both imported fine here, with full detail. And if it's importing the URL obviously it's working. I wonder if the import filter was changed. I'll send you the ones we ship.

Received - many thanks, Jon!

About to travel for few days. I will deal with this with Jon by email and post back here when there's any useful news.

When I use a different Mac I see the same problem you do. It seems the response from JSTOR can vary, perhaps as a function of whether the request is coming from a JSTOR subscriber or not. I'll have to investigate some more and come up with a solution for both situations.

There were major changes made by JSTOR that affect importing references when the institution has access privileges. The import code will be updated to deal with this in the next release.

Hi there,

New user here. Just on the Demo right now but hoping to graduate to the full product.

As per this thread, I am only getting blank citations off JSTOR through the Bookends Browser. When I click the downward arrow, the result is an empty reference without details or the relevant PDF. I am logged in from home (isn't everyone at the moment) via my institution.

Thanks for your help.

James

They may have changed their HTML again, I'll have to take a look.
