Bringing New Device Into Existing iCloud Sync

I feel like I should be able to figure this out...but struggling so far! I've got Bookends running with iCloud sync on my current Macbook Pro as well as my iPad. I just got a new Macbook Pro and want to get Bookends running on that before I wipe the original MBP (and won't be running Bookends on that any more). The "New MBP" has iCloud drive running and has successfully download the Bookends folder.

So, two basic questions:

1) I know the Bookends licensing specifies you can only have app running on a single macOS device. Is the fact that I'm trying to get it running on two going to block me from doing so? If so, obviously I will just have to take the plunge and turn off syncing or even uninstall on the "Old MBP". I was just afraid to do so in case I caused any problems for myself!

2) Putting aside the 2 macOS installs issue, what is the process for getting a new install of the macOS Bookends running with iCloud sync when it is already working properly with an iOS install as well? The directions I find on the support site presume you already have the macOS version working and are then turning on the iOS version. But, how do you do this in reverse?

Many thanks for assistance - love the program and can't wait to keep rolling with it on the machine!

1. You're syncing via iCloud (the data are uploaded and downloaded from the cloud), so you don't need to be simultaneously running two copies of Bookends to sync. In fact, you can't.

2. The instructions for setting up sync when you have both Mac and iOS devices are here

The only thing that's different from simple Mac <-> Mac is that you must use the Bookends folder in iCloud Drive as the default attachment folder (so that the attachments are available to your iPad as well as your Macs -- if it were just Macs being synced any file sync service, like Dropbox, would do for attachments).

Thanks Jon!

I realize why I was stalling it out is because I would get the "start a new library?" request when launching Bookends on macOS and I was afraid to do so thinking I would want to use the existing one from iCloud. However (for those reading this who might encounter the same issue), starting a new library and then turning on iCloud syncing does the trick!
