Reference format not appearing as usable option

Hello,

I created a specific reference format (JSCR). The reference format does appear as default format (see screen shot - JSCR). However, the reference format does not appear in the format manager (see screen shot) or as an option when scanning the document.

Could someone please offer some advice?

Thank you for your help.

Does your format have the extension .fmt?

JSCR.fmt

Doesn't appear to have an extension.

Hi Jon,

How do you add an extension?

Thanks.

In the Finder. The format is just a file in the Custom Formats folder (shortcut to the enclosing Bookends folder is via the Help menu).

I just wanted to bump this, because the same thing has just happened to me. Somewhere between upgrading to Catalina and upgrading to Bookends 13.3, the extensions were stripped from all my custom formats. They continued to appear in the Biblio->Default Format list, but disappeared from other lists. Just needed to go into the Custom Formats folder and manually add the extensions back.

Bookends doesn't touch any files in the Custom Folders. Are you sure the extension .fmt is there but just hidden by the Finder? Do a Get Info of the file to see.
