scan changes word theme

Post by gshenaut »

As my first Bookends project, I have converted a Word manuscript from Zotero to Bookends, and finally got an error-free scan. However, in the resulting document, my custom template was replaced with normal.dotm, causing the incorrect font to be used (and undoubtedly other problems).

This is the most recent macOS, Word, and Bookends.

How can I prevent this from happening? It seems to me that when the new Word document is created, it should retain the original document's template(s).

No, that's not how Word works. A new Word document uses the default Normal style. You have two choices:

1. Make the Normal style template you're using the default.

or

2. Have the scanned document replace the original. This is what is commonly done. If there's a problem with the scan you can Undo it. If you're still concerned you can Save As after the scan.
