Request: On SQL Error -> to Editor (or Syntax Check Button)?

When the setup for an SQL search fails because the input syntax is wrong, we get beeps and warnings. The window has already closed. So we have to go back and "Rename" the search (why not "Edit" the search ... the term "Rename" seems confusing???).

This process could be improved when a syntax failure would cause the editor window to reopen directly (with or without the beeps). Alternatively, it would be handy to have a "Check Syntax" button on the editor window before that window is closed and run.

Thanks.

I'll take a look.

Rename is used because that apples to static groups. But yes, Edit would be more appropriate for smart groups.

BTW, you might want to test out your searches in the SQL Search dialog before using then in smart groups (Command-Shift-S). It's a bit less work to fix bad syntax there than with smart groups.

It would also be extremely helpful when the SQL/Regex Search dialog input window would NOT close automatically with clicking the Search button. The process to test and retest and test yet again has become a tedium of opening and re-opening and re-opening again on that dialog window.

No, searches of course will be done when press the Search button. Please wait to see the improvements in the next update and then complain.
