I was unable to access the floating citation window on my Mac. Jon had commented elsewhere that perhaps the OS was not allowing Bookends to talk to other apps through the OS (a paraphrase of the comments).

In any case, by allowing Bookends 'full disk access' in the privacy settings, I am now able to access the window with a double click of the designated key. I thought I would pass along my finding.

Thanks for sharing this. I wouldn't have thought that Full Disk Access would be required in this setting (it doesn't for me), but macOS can be very mysterious.
