Subsequent Citation

Post by marcus »

I'm looking for some help with formatting my citations.

I'm formatting according to the American Sociological Association (ASA) which requires that ALL authors be listed in the first citation and then subsequent citation use et al.

I see in the custom citation section it gives you the subsequent option with the drop down for Surname Only 'et al.', but it is not working for me.

I feel as though I might have messed up the Field older and this is causing problems, but when I cite, it comes out just the way I want it. I need it to be (Author Year: page)

(Foucault 1977:23)

As of now the field order code is : a d @

This gets me the correct in-text citation, but I cannot seem to format the subsequent citations properly. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

First, don't put @ in the format. That belongs in the text.

Here are 2 citations that work for me when entered in the text:

First time {Alley, 2001, #83157@13}

and second time

{Alley, 2001, #83157@13}
