Linking attachments to references

Post by vulevu »

I have quite a few imported attachments with "reference metadata not found" (often despite the fact that all of the metadata and DOI are on the front page of the attachment, but that's a problem for another time).

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find a way to import the metadata (e.g. from Google Scholar) and link this directly to the attachment. The only way it works for me is to create a new reference from scratch with the imported metadata; I then have to search for the attachment via Finder; attach it to the new reference; delete the "metadata not found" entry on Bookends. Sometimes it's easier to just do it manually, but there must be an easier way to do this

If there is a way to merge these two references (one with complete metadata, one with the attachment)?

Many thanks for your help.

Yes, please read about Autocomplete Paper in the user guide (Help menu). That sounds like exactly what you want.
