Hi
I'm wondering if it is possible to insert the bookends id into a bibliography entry. The reason is that I want to keep my notes for each reference in a markdown file and I want each file to start with a simple formatted bibliography entry and a clickable link to the reference.
Jones 2021 Anesthesiology - Sevoflurane and desflurane: effect on the environment
<bookends://sonnysoftware.com/237280>
- notes
- more notes
- etc
At the moment I have to copy the formatted reference then copy the link as text and insert the parentheses.
I guess inserting the bookends id into an unused user field with a script might work. But if there are enough people who want this sort of function (eg devonthink and obsidian users) it might be easier to insert the id directly into the formatted citation
cheers
Michael

Re: bookends id in a bibliography format
You can do this. The unique id number is represented by =
So this enter in the order field will give you what you want
$<bookends://sonnysoftware.com/$=>

Sonny Software
P.S. You can see all of the special characters that can be used in a format without going to the User Guide -- there is a Special Character popup just below the text box for Field Order.

Awesome. Thank you Jon. This makes taking notes in obsidian much easier
