New user, last one for today, how to reorder items with same date

Post by bmalin »

Apologies for so many posts today, it is still difficult to find what I need in the manual.

I have two book chapters. Everything scans fine, with one problem. The chapters are listed in the main reference file out of order, and that is how they scan in the citations and bibliography. Perhaps I entered them in that order originally.

I can't drag to reorder them. There may be some more complex field order tweaks but it's too deep for me at the moment.

Thanks one more time.

Cite by Author, Name, Unique ID and there can be no ambiguity.

Here's a pic:

The two articles from 1958 should be in reverse order to be entered correctly in chronological order.

Another example has several problems in the sort:

I have hit the sort by date and author buttons that seem to sort most entries correctly. I understand that "garbage in = garbage out". Perhaps the errors are in front of my eyes, but I cannot find them in my data entry fields.

Thanks again.

This isn't about formatting, it concerns how references are listed, so please post in the correct forum (or contact tech support directly).

Bookends will sort this list by author and date (assuming the first column is authors, as in this case). It doesn't matter in what order they were entered. Since the authors and year are identical, which one is listed first is indeterminate.

As for your second example, I'd have to see the library itself.
