Multivolume Subsequent Citation (Chicago)

Post by ehbarnet »

Hi everyone,

This might be an easy question, but I'm having trouble coming up with the best format multivolume works for subsequent citations. I'm using Chicago, so I'd like my output to be something like this:

Brown, Book Title, I:36.

Ideally, I'd like for this format to work even when the volume input is empty. So in that case, I would get Brown, Book Title, 36. and/or Brown, Book Title.

Any suggestions for this? Thanks in advance!

The User Guide (Help menu) has details about how Bookends deals with missing fields. Off the top of my head, you might try this with conditional grouping:

a, t, {v:p^p^}.

(this assumes that 36 comes from the Pages field)
