Download Bookends import filters

Post by Jon »

There is an anonymous ftp site that has all of the formats and filters that we ship. You can get them here:

ftp://ftp.sonnysoftware.com/pub/ImportFilters/

If prompted, login as Guest.

Hi Jon,

Is the ftp server still working? I tried to open it and my Mac crashes. I am running Bookends 13.1.1 on macOS 10.13.6.

Thanks

Thanks for the response.

For some reason my Mac crashes whenever I try to connect to the server. Any idea?

Thanks

No idea -- and no server can crash your Mac. In Safari I click on the link above, choose Guest, and the remote ftp server opens to show the formats.

If you need a particular format restored to the original, here's a useful trick. Go to the folder

~/Library/Application Support/Bookends

and trash the file there called Installed Version.txt.

Run Bookends again -- all the original factory-default formats and import filters will be restored (items in you custom folders will not be touched).

The link is not working for me. Fortunately, it did not crash, but I get a message that Safari cannot open this page.

When I click on the link Safari and Chrome offer to open it in my ftp client, which works. I don't know how to reset the browser so that they open it directly, so I'm afraid I can't test that.

If you need to restore a default filter or format, it's easy. Remove the file

installedVersion.txt

from the Bookends folder, and on the next launch it will recreate the default folders (but leave custom folders alone).
