Stanford University Libraries

Post by Pia »

I would like to be able to search Stanford University's SOCRATES catalogue, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to set it up. Here's the library's website if it helps at all...

I have a username and password, but they use automatic proxy configuration and I'm not sure how to make that work with Bookends. Any help greatly appreciated!

This thread may give you some help on authorized access via a proxy server:

I'm still a little confused though. Stanford's library catalog is public access, only I can't figure out what their proxy server address and proxy port number is. Any ideas where I might locate that information? When I look up proxy configuration they only give me the info. for configuring my browser. Maybe I'm not asking this right, but it seems like there should be some way to set up an import filter, if the catalog is open to the public?

Hm, sounds like the info you have is only for browser access. If so, you would do your search using the browser and, if they provide it, export the references as a file that Bookends can import (usually an EndNote Refer file or a RIS file). You may want to contact the Stanford library folks for more information about what they provide.
