time problem on sync

My sync between BOT and Bookends failed because of different time/date between the two machines. I checked both my iMac and my iPad, and they have the same time. the iPad does not seem to allow me to select a particular time server; the iMac uses the Apple server with Cupertino time, the iPad is set to Pacific time. Any thoughts?
