Zettlr

Post by feuizl »

I am looking to start using Zettlr and came over this Reddit post Bookends compatibility with Zettlr:

and this comment:

The reason why Zotero works so well in this regard is that with the right plugins, it will automatically assign an ID for each new added reference and automatically update the bibliography file that Zettlr uses to access the references.

Is Bookends capable of the same? I prefer to keep using Bookends rather than Zotero.

We are planning to add Siri Shortcuts support later this year, and theoretically it will be possible to get any reference and convert it to any format you want and then send to any app. It looks like this type of automation will be much better than adding a hard-coded solution to Bookends for iOS.

Thank you for your reply, Serge!

My mistake; I should have posted in the Mac version. Is this possible from my MacBook Pro?

Bookends can export BibTeX and it can export the unique ID (if you tweak the format). But you have to actively export, I believe Zotero exports automatically. Whether what Bookends does is sufficient for Zettlr I don't know (I never heard of it before).
