“Bookends on Tap” vs. Bookends for iOS

I am still happily using “Bookends on Tap 2.6.3” without problems. Somewhere along the line I missed the announcement of the new version. I came here looking for a feature comparison to see if I am missing anything. Where would I find that?

Much Thanks, Mark

Bookends On Tap was removed from the App Store in 2017. And it's really nice to hear that it still works great!
New features of Bookends for iOS are:
• Cloud Sync.
• Citation creation.
• Siri Shortcuts.
• Updated pdf engine with greatly improve Apple Pencil support.
• Note stream for PDF Annotations.
• "Open In" instead of "Copy To" for PDFs sharing between apps.
• Split screen support on iPad.
• Safari View Controller.
• Barcode scanning.
• Google Scholar Advanced Search.
• Google Books search engine.
• Autofill From Internet.
• Dark Mode support.
• External Keyboard Shortcuts.
• Speed and UI improvements and, of course, modern iOS and devices support.

Sounds worth an upgrade.

- Is it an upgrade or is it a whole new program? That is, do I have to download all my references and attachments again.
- It looks like cloud sync costs extra. Will it still sync over wifi?

Much Thanks, Mark

It's a new app. Just sync it via Bookends Wi-Fi and all your references and attachments will be transferred from macOS to iOS, if everything is OK after sync just delete Bookends On Tap from the device.

Bookends for iOS is just totally brilliant, Serge and Jon did an amazing job on adapting lots of functionality that syncs so seamlessly with the desktop version. The fact I have my whole reference database in my pocket is so wonderful, looking up refs in meetings or replying to emails becomes a breeze, and far better workflow than any other option i tried. The most annoying thing is the dependance I now have on the Apple ecosystem, between Bookends and Scrivener, I am truly locked in
