Ibid?

Post by ed »

Hi,

Im using bookends 10.5 with Mellel. I'm using APA 5th edition. Feeling I'm getting the formatting as needed. But some things I just can't get right. One thing is ibid. Below i show how like to have it. First time the reference should be noted as usual. If the same reference is noted directly after (with out a reference between) I want the second reference to be ibid.

Here is my screenshot of where I can add the function of ibid. The I must choose custoi citation format but then I can't keep the formatting author&date with etc... as I have choosen as in screenshot. How should I solve it?

Then when using multiple references I want to look like below. so when having more than two references I want a swedish and (och) between reference two and three.

(Andersson, 1986); (Bengtsson, 1990) och (Davidsson, 1994)

Thanks in advance

For the Ibid. problem, please download Bookends 10.5 again and see if it is fixed.

For the "och", that's part of the text, not the citation (as you've typed it, anyway). So that belong in the word processor text, outside of the citation.

Oops, sorry, there was a problem with Ibid., but not yours. And yes, do not download it again.

You should not have changed the APA 5th from what we ship -- it uses a custom citation format to create the footnotes (APA citations), and will generate Ibid. for you. Please download the APA 5th format from our ftp site and replace the one you modified with it.

I did now download APA 5th Edition and replace with my old one. Feel sort of stupid, I think this is starting to get on the cutting edge of computer software for me. I thought the idea here was that you could change different things in e.g. apa 5th edition to suite your own needs. But anyway now when format manager/citation options click i loose some of the possibilities to format.

When using the ibid. option the result is very confusing se jpg.

Suddenly the Wikberg reference is like this: .(Wikberg, Karin. (2005). Amatör eller professionist? Studier rörande amatörfrågan i svensk tävlingsidrott 1903-1967. Stockholm: SISU idrottsböcker.) instead of (Wikberg, 2005)

And on the ibid it choose to do ibid on the first reference instead of reference nr 2. of the Mårtensson 2004.

hmmm feeling that I have lost it. I thought a few hours earlier that I had got a grip of the software.
