keyboard switch upon pdf open

Whenever I open a PDF file from Bookends (command-shift-o), my keyboard switches from US to German layout. Can this be fixed somehow?

Check your system preferences Language & Text, Input Sources, and see what your settings are for keyboard shortcuts.

The keyboard shortcuts are different from the open PDF command.

I noticed that the keyboard switch does not happen with _all_ PDFs. It seems that the ones that I previously dragged into Bookends are fine. Those which I downloaded with "Get PDF -> From Internet" do misbehave. In those cases the PDF opens behind Bookends, and the keyboard becomes switched.

Sorry, I have no idea what could cause that. Maybe someone else has an idea?
