bibTeX author-year format

Post by JR13 »

I'm trying to make BE to create a bibTeX output that allows to use the author-year format, i.e. citations have the format (Doe, 2010) without author initials, and with using "et al." for longer lists of authors.

When I use BE with bibTeX to create citations that are numbered, everything works fine using

$\bibitem{${u1}$}$
a (d). t. j v, p-.

The problem is that the selections under "Citation Option" in the Formats Manager do not seem to have any effect. When I try to do the following, I get the expected citation result (complete author list with initials etc.), but without the extra formatting possibilities given under "citation options" (such as: using et al. for more than 2 authors).

$\bibitem[$a (d)$]{${u1}$}$
a (d). t. j v, p-.

What should I do, or what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Joerg

This is really a tech support issue. Please zip and send me your format, and provide an example of what you want the citation to look like.
