"and" in a string

Is it possible to add the word "and" to a citation string within a footnote? It seems to be convention in the field I am currently working in, but I cannot figure out how add the word and still have Bookends Scan the citation list with semi-colons rather than periods.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for:

"For further discussion of this issue, see: Citation 1; Citation 2; Citation 3; 'and' Citation 4."

Not that I can think of. Perhaps someone else may have a workaround.
