Sorry if I'm being stupid about this but I can't work it out. I need to have author (date) in my inline citations. As far as I can tell, putting brackets around the year isn't an option in the 'author-date' format of the citation format tab of the format manager. And I don't know which format has this style of citation format in order to choose it as a custom citation format. Could anyone help? Many thanks,
Jo
modify author date citation format
Re: modify author date citation format
Hi,
Please see p. 175 in the user guide for a full discussion of this. In brief, to get author (date), set Author Date citations in the format, and in the temp citation place a ^ immediately after the open citation delimiter: {^cite}.
{^Oscar, Jones, and Peyton, 2010, #32345}
would yield
Oscar et al. (2010)
