That sounds good. Thanks for looking into this.

It's done, and will be available in the next update (it may or may not be delayed for Mellel, because that requires work by both us and RedleX).

Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
Thanks a ton for your work on this Jon. I am new to using Bookends with Mellel and came across this very problem. I was excited when I went to the forum to see that a solution was on its way. I hope the new update comes out soon. Regardless, I have been very impressed with the product and will not hesitate to recommend it.

Hi. I've discussed this with RedleX and they're planning on supporting this feature. I can't say exactly when the update will be available, but historically we issue them ~every 4-6 weeks.

Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
This is very interesting and useful, thanks for implementing it. I occasionally run into this problem. How will this work for those (Mellel expats...) working on Scrivener or other programs?
Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
It should work with RTF files from any source. I've already implemented it for Word/RTF, NWP, and Pages. Mellel is taking longer because part of the wiring has to be implemented by RedleX, and of course they weren't anticipating it (I just sprung it on them, and they were gracious enough to move it into their schedule).

Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
Sorry to dig up this post, but I had a question related to the square brackets.
Is there any way to have a citation that uses square brackets (via the "[" function) but that also removes the author name (via the "-" function)?

Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
If you mean you want to use the [ metacharacter and - together, then no, you can't do that. Only one metacharacter per temp citation.

Blast. I figured it was something like that.
Any chance of developing a single metacharacter that will do both

Re: CMS Citation in Footnote
No, sorry, that wouldn't make sense. Allowing more than one metacharacter would be a more robust solution, but would be a lot of work to implement, and could cause a lot of problems because many combinations just wouldn't make sense (e.g. omit author name + move author name in front of the citation).

No problem. Just thought I'd ask.
