Cannot unscan Word document!

Hi together,

I have a large document (lots of pictures, references, cross-references within the document) which I scanned a couple of days ago. Although it took quite some time (±10mins), it worked flawlessly.

Now, I cannot unscan! Hitting the "Unscan document" action from Word results in Bookends coming up and displaying the dialog "Unscanning document... Press Command-. to stop". Even after >1h, nothing changes. My computer however works like hell; I'm at 99% CPU usage due to Bookends. I repeated that several times, had Word restarted, and the computer restarted. All the same.

The specs: Mac OS X Lion, Bookends 11.1.6, Word for Mac 2011. The document is 9,3 MB, 270 pages long, and contains around 60 images.

There are several solutions. The one that's probably easiest at this point is to save the document as RTF and unscan/scan that.
