Hello,
I am wondering if there is any way to have Bookends produce endnotes that contain the same information as would bibliography entries. I am trying to use the program for the journal "Political Theory," which requires full endnotes in place of a proper bibliography.
Thanks in advance!
Endnotes in the style of bibliography
Re: Endnotes in the style of bibliography
I'm not sure what you want the endnotes to look like. How do they differ from a bibliography in this case? If they don't, then of course you can use the bibliography Bookends generates as the endnotes.

Re: Endnotes in the style of bibliography
Well, and there could be something very simple I'm missing, but what I would like differs from a regular bibliography insofar as a bibliography gets created in alphabetical order instead of being ordered by and associated with the numbered notes throughout the text. So I would like the output to look like the series of endnotes that is produced normally, except that I would like each entry to contain all the info that bibliographies do (editors, translators, etc. as entered in the formats manager).
I hope this is clear, and apologize for my relative ignorance of the software. I'm new and generally very happy with it!

Re: Endnotes in the style of bibliography
Hi, the bibliography can be sorted or not, ordered by citation order or not, etc. I think what you want is a bibliography that is numbered (set in the format) in the order of the citations. Please take the Bookends tutorial.pdf (Help menu) for a quick overview of scanning, and see the User Guide for "formats". If you have questions, please contact tech support off-forum (support@sonnysoftware.com) and I'll help you find or create a format that does what you want.

If I understand you correctly, you are looking for a format that does not create a separate bibliography – it does not need to, since the full bibliographic information is in each "citation object" (which is placed in an endnote). This is not a problem at all. You just need a format that puts the necessary information in the citation object – many of the humanities formats that are included in Bookends already do something similar. (I don’t have Bookends here right now, so I cannot give you an example.)CHobbsMorgan wrote:I am trying to use the program for the journal "Political Theory," which requires full endnotes in place of a proper bibliography.
