New view to BE
New view to BE
I was surprised to see that when I open Ref--> New the DB window was integrated into the Window.
I don't use to it it, and prefer the old way where this DB window was a separate window. Is there a way to go back to it.
In the new view I get what is seen in the attach screen picture, and I can't find there the Brown Button where I use to click in order to place the reference code into the Mellel text.
I will appreciate your assistance very much, I am on my way, can't insert references into the Mellel text.
TIA
Re: New view to BE
You insert citations with Edit -> Copy Selected (Command-Y). Or drag and drop.
You can go back to the old view by changing the setting in Preferences (Refs tab) to Edit References -> Reference Window.

Re: New view to BE
Thanks, I have done it.
I read the document accompanied the software package, and couldn't find the advantages of this new configurations. Can you elaborate more about it.
I read the issue of attaching PDF files into the windows of the DB, but couldn't find my way to activate it. I have checked the Preferences necessary tab.
I need help here.
TIA

Sorry for the trouble,
I am attaching here what You wrote, and asking your assistance to understand better, for me, how I am practically configure PDF files into BE DB.
TIA
"2. Attach a PDF only if the reference metadata is found online. This option is available when attaching PDFs in bulk by dropping them on a database window with the Command key held down. If Attach PDF only if reference metadata are found online is checked, Bookends will only attach a pdf (and move or copy it to the default attachments folder if requested) if Bookends can locate the reference metadata on the Internet. This is useful if you want to have Bookends automatically download reference data for pdfs you already have, but don't want the pdf attached if Bookends can't locate it. "

Re: New view to BE
I don't know what more I can say than what I wrote in the user guide and release notes. You can attach a pdf to a reference many different ways. One of which is, in the Finder, to drag and drop the pdf onto a Bookends library window. Perhaps someone else reading this can explain it better to you.
