Formating the page range in citations

Post by NewBookendsUser »

Hi,

for my previous question received such a quick and helpful answer here comes the next:
Is it possible to get an abbreviated page range in citations (as it is possible in the bibliography)? By now, even if I type "56-8" it becomes "56-58" after scanning (in Mellel).

Thanks for your help!

Cited pages will obey the setting for how pages are handled in the format definition (as entered, truncate second number, etc.).

Thanks for your answer!

Perhaps I should have specified my request: I'm using author-date-citation in a custom format; now, after dragging the reference from Bookends into Mellel, double clicking it and then adding the "@56-8" it transforms into 56-58 after scanning; in the bibliography it's allright, nevertheless. The citation format I'm using is a simple custom "a d" (because this way a was able to use the option not to use year only for date).

p.s.: In my format I activated the "abbreviate last page" option ...

In the format, what do you have 'Page ranges" set to? Last page as entered? Or Complete last page?

oops, edited my post while you were replying ...

In my format the page range field is "abbrev. last page"; therefore, as mentioned, in the bibliography everything works perfectly.

I just tried scanning with Mellel with a format for which the last page was set to "abbreviated" in the format and it worked correctly. Try another app, like Word, and see what you get.

I really have to apologize for wasting your time! By some stupid error of mine in the format I am actually using I had not abbreviate last page activated but abbreviate last page, KEEP TWO DIGITS ... Now all works correctly.

Once again, thanks for your great support and your terrific Bookends!
