Once more: subtitles

Hi everyone,

I want to bring up a topic again that's been mentioned before: subtitles. Would it be a possible improvement for future upgrades to include a new field especially for subtitles? The problem that makes me think about it is this: As I am writing in German most of the time, I follow the German standard of separating title and subtitle of a book with a period; but if I should write something some time in an English context, it quite probably should be a colon. Of course, one could change this manually, but manual changes always don't feel ... right
As for the possibility to use an already existing field: It's a possibility, sure, but sometime one could need ALL the fields in the main tab (e.g. the short title), and it's a bit a mess always to switch from the main to the additional tab just to enter a complete title.

So, any opinions on that?

There's no room on the main tab for more fields, that's why we have the Additional Fields tab. There are lots of unused fields there, assign one to subtitle. Or if you rarely use a field on the first tab (e.g. translator), assign that to subtitle and move translator to the addition fields tab.

I thought as much ... But it's no great matter; I banned the publisher to the additional tab and made it subtitle in the main. I just had thought that an entry as (potentially) important as subtitle would merit an own field. Thanks anyway!

I usually follow the Library of Congress standard and separate title and subtitle with space-colon-space:
title : subtitle
Then it is much easier to do a search & replace to adapt to specific requirements or even getting rid of the whole subtitle.

This sound's like a good idea, too, especially as there shouldn't be any other space-colon-space combinations in any document (except one is performing condemnable typographical sins!)
