Transfer cited text from Word to Mellel

Post by tensor9 »

I have a MS Word document with EndNote citations. I would like to copy the text from Word document to a Mellel document and keep the citations. The Bookends references were all imported from an EndNote library.

I can't seem to find an easy way to do this.

I've tried to unformat the EndNote citations in the Word document, leaving a citation format of {Author, Year #ref} (with multiple citations separated by a semicolon). This is the default format that EndNote uses.

I then copied and pasted that text into Mellel and attempted a Scan. No go. Bookends won't read the citations.

In Mellel you have to use the option "Convert text to citations" (or words to the effect).

Ahhh, thanks! The option was in the tool bar menu, which I rarely visit. That fixed it right up.

BTW, is the method I used the preferred one?

Yes, it's the only method, actually.
