We're going to be uploading some new video tutorials, this time with someone who is actually good at it! I'll be adding this to the video tutorial page, but for the moment I'll just post the link here. The first new tutorial is about importing reference metadata for attached pdfs.

New video tutorial -- updated
Re: New video tutorial
Well, I feel like an idiot. That video was great, it taught me much easier ways to import files. I was doing the whole "Export .Ris" from internet, importing the RIS, then attaching the file by clicking attach PDF. These ways are much easier!!
No, I have no read the entire user manual, 400 pages is a bit intimidating! (Although I am eternally grateful for you documenting the product so well!)

Re: New video tutorial
Yeah, Bookends is pretty deep. The best way to approach the user guide is to scan the TOC, see topics of interest, and read about those. If you read one or two topics in a sitting, it's not so bad.

Re: New video tutorial
Well, either way I'm excited for new videos! And I just imported 50 new references in a few minutes! It was great!
Re: New video tutorial
Thanks for the video! I didn't even know bookends could do this.
You should definitely produce more videos like this!
I usually download the .ris, THEN have it look for full text. Now I know that I can start with some of my older pdfs and get the citations much easier.

Re: New video tutorial
The video is AWESOME!!! Thank you! Can't wait to see upcoming videos!
Re: New video tutorial -- updated
A new video tutorial has been uploaded on how to find references and PDFs online (and import them, of course).

Looks great! However I still find using your normal browser to download the PDFs then drag and drop them into the library the easiest. I find that Bookends is much better at finding the information for the PDF than it is for finding the PDF itself (may just be my university's access options/restrictions). (Also, DOIs are... well... very good at what they do so if one is available, Bookends will always find the info.)
I may contact my library to find out the Z39.50 (or whatever it is) options and try to setup a search in Bookends, if not to see how it works but also assess if it is, in fact, more simple.
If I wanted to download multiple results from a search page, using the bookends browser would be the way to go. Sometimes clicking through the site multiple times just to download a few PDFs is a pain.
